The E.D.G.E Sails to Bayfield, Wisconsin!
After the E.D.G.E.'s successful debut at the MREA Energy Fair in Custer Wisconsin June 2009, (Experimental Dwelling for a Greener Environment) Revelations made an all-out search for good location and permanent home for the little house. The process started in Kewanee along the shores of Lake Michigan, traveled thru The Porcupine Mountains over to the Brule River ending up in Bayfield Wisconsin overlooking Pikes Bay and its Marina after a short stop on Madeline Island. One of our major concerns was most populated counties in Wisconsin have a minimum requirement of 750 to 800 SF floor area. That left many locations out of the running, as the E.D.G.E. is only 320SF on the first floor with two 80 SF balconies for sleeping.

We have built this house three times, once in our parking lot, once at the MREA fair, and finally on a two acre lot on Silver Ridge Drive, a mile and a half South of Bayfield on Highway 13. We are in the final stages of finishing with the designing and constructing of the furniture. Through the entire process, we have learned enough that the next E.D.G.E. will be much simpler to complete and are already working towards E.D.G.E.II.

When you're up in Bayfield, be sure to stop in, if we're there, we will be glad to give you a tour. We have found the sliding insulated doors to be very helpful and energy efficient. When they are closed the interior temperature raises about 4 degrees. The butterfly roof is doing just fine with its new location in the Snow Belt. We also put the bathroom door on and built a real shower, if you were one of the many people wondering about those finishing items missing at the fair. We have already started on improvements, modifications along with many design options/ variations. If you're interested in an E.D.G.E. we would be glad to explain what it takes  to have one. I hope you enjoy the pictures we've included. Remember the word is Monastic.
